SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police have made arrests following what they call “a strange sequence of events” stemming from a shooting that occurred on May 24th.
Officers were called to a shooting in the 2100 block of Greenwood Road, where they found a man, Marcus Brown, with a gunshot wound to his knee.
When questioned, Brown initially said the gun went off by accident while he and his girlfriend were getting ready to leave.
However, his story was inconsistent and officers could not find the girlfriend he mentioned, prompting further investigation.
According to the police, the woman identified by Marcus did not have anything to do with the shooting.
Police report that during a confrontation, Marcus was allegedly shot by his real girlfriend, Lakeisha Shivers. After the shooting, Shivers fled the scene but later returned to drive him to the hospital, hiding the gun in her car.
As a result, Lakeisha Shivers was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice and Battery of a Dating Partner Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury with a Dangerous Weapon.
Marcus Brown was taken into custody for an outstanding probation violation warrant.
Both individuals have been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
