Several residents told the city council Monday afternoon during the administrative conference session that they are excited for a vacant part of Greenwood and Pines Road to gain a new business. A 7-Eleven is seeking a zoning permit to begin construction. The council must approve the request.
Residents told the council they had seen the site plans and were pleased with what is being proposed, especially as a way to light up the area and hopefully attract more businesses to set up shop.
“It was very beautiful and could be something we’re proud of. Maybe open up the chances for other nice businesses to open up around it, because I understand there’s a lot of property adjacent to it. So I think it will be a good step in the right direction. It’s grown up so much there in the past 50 years that I don’t recognize it. But that’s what they call progress. So I’m glad West Shreveport is getting noticed,” one resident told the council.
The proposal was approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission. The council will vote on the request on June 24.
