One dead, two injured after building fire in Marcus Hook

(WPHL) — A fire is under investigation after blazes ripped through a building in Marcus Hook, leaving one man dead and two others injured.

According to the Marcus Hook Fire Department, the fire occurred at 200 Marcus Street on June 9 at 10:13 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the rear of the building.

One individual was removed from the 2nd story front window. They later succumbed to their injuries, officials say.

Two others were also removed from the building. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The fire department says a pet also perished in the fire.

The fire was under control by 10:45 a.m.

At this time, officials say they are still investigating and don’t know the circumstances of how the fire started.

“Our hearts go out to the survivors, victims, loved ones, and the first responders who undoubtedly have been affected by this tragic incident,” said a statement by Daniel Smith, Fire Chief, and Alfonse Brooks, President/ PIO of the Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Department.
