Investigation underway after KSP trooper shoots, kills man

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man died after an officer-involved shooting in Harrison County.

Kentucky State Police said the shooting happened before 11 p.m. on Sunday near a home west of Cynthiana on Kentucky 36.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

According to a news release, troopers were responding to a disturbance where 50-year-old Ramon Morales was allegedly refusing to leave. Investigators said Morales left the area in a white Chevrolet van before they arrived.

Later, a vehicle matching the description of Morales’s crashed into another car on KY-36 and was leaving the scene of that collision

According to KSP, a trooper located Morales standing on the shoulder of the roadway in front of the home of the disturbance complaint.

LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:

During the interaction, the trooper shot Morales. The trooper reportedly provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived, who took him to the hospital.

Morales later died from his injuries.

No officers were hurt.
