WGN-TV spoke with the couple in the aftermath of the robbery, which they say took place just steps away from their front door around 10 p.m. The couple tossed their phones and removed their jackets, complying with the armed robbers’ request.

“You just don’t know if their next move is to shoot or to run. I just continued to reassure them that we’re giving them everything,” victim Gregory Poulos told WGN-TV on April 22, one day after the incident.

The couple stated that their camera didn’t capture the horrifying encounter’s conclusion, which they say occurred when the armed suspects forced them to lie facedown on the ground.
