Celebrate Father’s Day in New Orleans: Events and deals for dads

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Sunday, June 15, is Father’s Day. No matter how you want to celebrate, New Orleans will have something for every dad.

As the weekend approaches, many local businesses are promoting Father’s Day sales or hosting special events. WGNO has compiled a list to help you take advantage of these perks.

Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar

The Superior Seafood special for Father’s Day is the New York Strip Steak, topped with rich blue cheese crumbles, Maître d’ butter and crispy onion rings, according to a news release. With the purchase of every entrée, every dad will receive one complimentary Stella Artois lager on draft.

Felipe’s Taqueria

Dads visiting any Felipe’s location on Sunday will receive one free super burrito when they show the Felipe’s app at checkout, according to a news release. The deal excludes steak, shrimp and other select add-ons.

Palace Cafe

Looking for a drink that tastes as smooth as a dad joke? Palace Cafe is offering a pour of Balcones Distilling’s Baby Blue Straight Corn Whisky for any dad who mentions “dram” while making their reservation.

Hotel Fontenot

In partnership with Tiny Zaps, Hotel Fontenot is hosting a tattoo pop-up on Sunday. A news release states that each tiny tattoo will feature exclusive, New Orleans-inspired flash designs. The experience includes a stay at the hotel, a complimentary beer upon check-in, access to the tattoo pop-up and a 20% dining discount at the onsite restaurant.

Single Barrel Tasting

The Sazerac House is hosting a bourbon tasting experience for Father’s Day. The event will feature three unique tastings of single barrel bourbon. Guests will also be able to purchase a commemorative bottle Single Barrel Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Tickets can be purchased on the Sazerac House website.

Abita New Orleans invites dads to come play cornhole, eat barbeque and have fun all day long. According to Abita’s post, every dad will receive one free pint if they can tell a good (or terribly good) dad joke. Finn’s BBQ will also be serving food from 2 to 8 p.m.

Second Line Parade

The Perfect Gentlemen Social Aid and Pleasure Club and the local Nation of Islam community will host a Father’s Day second line parade from 4 to 6 p.m. According to a news release, the theme of the parade is “Prayers for Peace” and will feature The Perfect Gentlemen Brass Band.

Dad Rock

Rock out with your dad at Republic NOLA on Saturday, June 14. DJ Bemo Rouge will play Dad’s favorites all night, from Nickelback to Led Zeppelin. A costume contest will be held with a cash prize, so be sure to dress up in your best fatherly attire.

Copeland’s Brunch

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy a full brunch buffet at Copeland’s in Harvey. The menu includes classic brunch favorites such as bacon and waffles, as well as a carving station featuring prime rib. Father’s Day Run & Walk

The New Orleans Track Club is hosting its annual Richard Newcomb Memorial race. The race features a two-mile and half mile course that follows the scenic Audubon Park path. Participants can sign up as a team with their dad to compete for special awards. Register for the race on the race website.

Chicago: The Musical

For any theatre-loving fathers, the Saenger Theatre is hosting “Chicago: The Musical” from June 10 to June 15. The musical, known for hits like “Cell Block Tango” and “All That Jazz,” tells a thrilling tale of greed, murder and showbiz in the 1920s. Purchase tickets on the Saenger website.
