1 killed, 1 injured in Callahan County crash

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A passenger was killed and a driver was injured during a crash in Callahan County Friday evening.

Rosa Escobedo, 79, of Cisco, Texas, died at the scene of the crash on I-20 east of Baird around 5:00 p.m., according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The press release states the driver of the truck Escobedo was riding in failed to maintain a single lane on the highway, causing the truck to veer off the road and then overturn when the driver overcorrected.

Escobedo was ejected upon impact, according to the press release. She died upon impact and the driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
