On Saturday, the Tower District was filled with music, color, and powerful messages as thousands gathered for the 35th Annual Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival— a vibrant day honoring love, diversity, and community.
More than just a celebration, the parade served as a safe space for people of all backgrounds to express themselves freely and support one another.
“Just love everybody. Everybody is human. Everybody’s people,” said Lori, who attended the parade.
Levi Koontz says Pride is about embracing who you are.
“No matter where you come from… love is love,” Koontz said. “When I came out, you know what my mom and grandma said? ‘Are you happy?’ That is what matters.”
For many, like Alexis Perez, Pride is also a chance to give back and uplift local nonprofits that work year-round to support the community.
“This is probably my second time [attending Pride], and I’m not just here showing support to my friends,” Perez said. “Casita Feliz and other nonprofits are doing their thing out here — I’m just showing back love.”
While paraders, food vendors, and music helped create a festive atmosphere, many echoed the same message: Pride is ultimately about visibility, acceptance, and unity.
“Me being here means inclusivity,” Lori added. “Love everybody, accept everybody — it doesn’t matter what they identify as or who they are. That’s what this day is all about.”
As Fresno continues to grow its Pride celebration year after year, so too does the sense of unity and visibility for LGBTQ+ residents and their allies.
