Teen somersaults to victory in track and field race

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It was a close race, but one high school athlete won it by a tumble.

Brooklyn Anderson somersaulted over the finish line during a state track and field championship in Oregon.

As she reached the last hurdle in the 100-meter race, she is seen tripping and then performing a double somersault across the finish line, winning the race in 14.93 seconds.

Anderson said “All I remember is resorting back to my gymnastics career. I wasn’t sure how far back everybody else was behind me, so I knew to just keep rolling, to keep going, because I really wanted to get first.”
