Police were called at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. Police confirmed a man was shot outside the strip mall and then entered the Secretary of State’s Driver’s License Facility, in the 3700 block of E. State, after being shot.
The victim was shot in his left hand, left knee, and right ankle, according to authorities, and then refused to cooperate with law enforcement.
Williams was identified as the suspect in the shooting from surveillance footage taken at a nearby clothing store. Authorities said Williams and the victim were seen together in an altercation outside the entrance, at which point Williams pulled out a gun and shot the victim, court records showed.
Williams, who faced multiple charges of attempted murder, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and all the charges of attempted murder were dismissed.
He was sentenced to 6 years in prison and given credit for 514 days served in jail.
