Laurel County deputies seize over 2,000 pills and firearms

BONNYMAN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Perry County man faces multiple drug trafficking charges after deputies seized over 2,000 guns and drugs from his home on Thursday.

Laurel County Public Affairs Deputy Gilbert Acciardo said the investigation dates back to 2024 in Laurel County, and on June 5, deputies were able to execute a search warrant at Chester Glenn Couch’s Typo Road home.

Authorities said they recovered approximately 2,247 prescription pills, 12 guns, suspected methamphetamine, and a large amount of cash.

According to a Monday news release, 68-year-old Chester Glenn Couch was arrested in connection with the undercover investigation. He was booked in the Kentucky River Regional Jail on the following charges:

  • Two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (opiates)
  • Third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance
  • First-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

Accardio wrote that the investigation is ongoing and officials are hopeful for a federal indictment.
