Ala. —
Fairview’s Camden Cullen will be a junior this upcoming school year, and in this interview, he talks about how big of a difference God has made in his life.

“God means the world to me. Every time I’m going through something, I always go straight to Him, because I know He has a plan and will always do what’s best for me,” Cullen said. “My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 6:34: ‘Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own’. What it means is that we stress so much about whatever we have going on that day, we transfer it over to tomorrow still worrying about it, instead of putting everything in God’s hands and not worrying about anything.”

Camden wants to help people of all ages find God, and he wants to be a role model for kids and help them get closer to God as well.

“It means so much to me that I can teach this to them, so that more people can learn about Him. I just love to spread the Word,” Cullen said. “Being that role model for them means so much to me. I just want to set that standard high for them and just know that they look up to you every day. I just want to set that standard high every time for them.”

Camden talked about one of his own role models and a very special event that he did in front of his family and friends.

“My Godly role model is my pastor, Tim Lipsey, because I know he will always be there for me and help me whenever I need him,” he said. “My family and my friends helped me a lot in getting me closer to God and, on March 16th, I got baptized. It meant so much to know that I have great friends and an amazing family coming and supporting me and they were very proud of my decision.”

Camden gave some advice to the people that want a relationship with God but might be struggling with or new to the experience. He does a Godly ritual with his team before their games and talked about what he’s learned during his journey so far.

“It’s the best decision you can make in life. I would say, don’t be scared to ask someone to help you find a relationship with God,” he said. “We always have a great devotional before the games, and we always pray before the games as well. The best thing that I’ve learned is not to worry and that there is a plan.”
