Officials with the Tri-Community Fire Department said they were dispatched to a tree blocking the roadway on New Union Road before 4:30 a.m. on June 9. While enroute, units were redirected to a single-vehicle accident on Robbins-Wilks Road involving a road washout.
When crews arrived, they found a sedan upside down in the washout. Officials said the driver was already out of the vehicle and reported chest pain, likely due to seatbelt tension/airbag deployment.
Tri-Community personnel remained on scene until AAA Ambulance arrived and assisted with traffic control. They said the patient was assessed but refused medical treatment.
Just before 6:45 a.m., Tri-Community was dispatched to First Hopewell Road, between Chapman Road and Gray Road, for water over the roadway and bridge. Units arrived and blocked off the affected area until road crews were able to block off the roadway.
