According to court documents earlier this month in Madison County, 25-year-old Austin Petty has been charged with:
The documents stated that 24-year-old Katelyn Powell was also charged with:
On the evening of May 30, officers with the Alexandria Police Department were called to a vacant lot off of North State Road 9 in Alexandria. After officers arrived, they found a pickup truck in the lot that had an open container of beer in the cupholder of the center console.
As officers investigated the area, they located Petty and Powell, who were both reportedly “completely nude.” They reportedly told officers that they were underneath the trestle on the train tracks having sex after they got into an argument.
Powell, who police said appeared to be intoxicated on a stimulant, was reportedly found with marijuana and methamphetamine in her purse. In the pickup truck, which officials found to belong to Petty, they reportedly found multiple firearms. Petty was also allegedly found with a bag containing almost 10 grams of cocaine.
In an interview with police, Petty reportedly said he bought around 10 grams of cocaine for $800 in Anderson earlier that day. Petty reportedly told police he didn’t sell cocaine but he would “often share and use cocaine” with Powell and his friends.
Powell reportedly told police that they both used cocaine and the two “sometimes sell drugs to people to make money to buy more drugs.” Multiple texts reportedly showed the two setting up transactions to sell drugs, along with videos of the two using drugs while having sex.
The bonds for both Petty and Powell have been set at $75,000, according to court documents.
