According to a press release from the team, the White Sox agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $760,000 with Tyler Alexander.
Alexander went 3-5 with a 6.19 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 21 games and four starts with the Milwaukee Brewers this season before being designated for assignment on June 1. He will wear uniform No. 70.
Alexander, who was born in Chicago, has gone 20-33 with a 4.67 ERA and 393 strikeouts in 485.1 career innings pitched over seven major-league seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2019-23), Tampa Bay Rays (2024) and the Brewers (2025).
To make room for Alexander on the 40-man roster, the White Sox transferred left-handed pitcher Fraser Ellard to the 60-day injured list and placed left-hander Jared Shuster on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 5) with a blister on his left hand.
Shuster is 0-0 with an 8.04 ERA over 12 games (two starts) this season, his second with the White Sox.
Ellard has been on the 15-day injured list since May 4 with a left lat strain.
The White Sox are set to take on the Royals at Rate Field Sunday, with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m. CT. Mike Vasil (3-2, 1.89 ERA) will take the mound to start for Chicago, while Michael Lorenzen (3-6, 5.12 ERA) gets the nod for Kansas City.
