Two Bay Area restaurants named among ‘world’s best’ by prestigious global ranking

(KRON) – The World’s Best recently released its annual 100 greatest restaurants list, and two of them are right here in the Bay Area. 

Both entries have the highest recognition from the Michelin Guide, which is three stars. 

Jumping more than 20 spots from last year, SingleThread in Healdsburg comes in the 46th place. SingleThread is a destination restaurant and boutique hotel. The eatery is owned and operated by a couple, Kyle and Katina Connaughton.   

Per the World’s Best, SingleThread offers an exquisite tasting menu with a strong Japanese influence. The majority of the eatery’s produce is sourced from a 24-acre farm that the couple owns. A 10-course tasting menu is available for patrons. SingleThread’s website says the menu showcases seasonal bounty from the couple’s farm.

Wine options are, of course, plentiful due to the eatery being nestled in Sonoma County.

Ranked at 96 is the San Francisco contemporary and French eatery, Atelier Crenn. The restaurant is a re-entry to the list.   

Born in France, owner and chef Dominique Crenn opened Atelier Crenn as a place to express her heritage and as an ode to “poetic culinaria,” according to the eatery’s website. 

Within the inaugural year, the French restaurant earned its first Michelin Star. When Atelier Crenn gained another Michelin Star, Chef Crenn became the first female chef in the US to receive this honor. 

Per Atelier Crenn’s website, the cuisine promises to be a vibrant, singular experience of indulgence, creativity, and inspiration.
