Sheriff’s Deputies reported that the plane was a 1946 single-engine plane carrying a 51-year-old and a 3-year-old. The 51-year-old pilot was found dead on the scene.
The toddler survived and was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishawukee Hospital in DeKalb, Illinois, and later taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in stable condition.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.
