CPD said they were called to the 2000 block of East 79th Street in South Shore around 6:30 p.m., where they found a 35-year-old man slumped over the wheel of his vehicle who had been shot in his right arm.
The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
When officers arrived on scene, they also found a 4-year-old boy inside the vehicle. The 4-year-old boy was not injured in the incident.
Police have no offender information and no one is in custody, but Area Two detectives are treating their investigation of the incident as a homicide.
