Cranking up the heat: Upper-level high pressure will expand over the ArkLaTex during the next few days. The result will be an increase in temperatures. Friday will begin with lows in the low to middle 70s. Daytime highs on Friday will warm into the middle 90s over much of the area. It won’t be quite as hot over the northern part of the area, where a few storms could occur.
Storms for a few: Futurecast shows that all of our area will stay dry on Thursday night under a partly to mostly cloudy sky. The day will begin with a complex of storms to the north and northwest of our area. This cluster of storms will graze the northern part of our area, bringing a threat of strong winds and some hail. The Storm Prediction Center indicates that we will see a level 1 to level 2 severe risk, with wind being the biggest threat. The HRRR model shows that wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph will be possible.
Storms for all next week: The upper-level ridge will shift back to the west by the end of the weekend. This will set up a rather stormy weather pattern that will begin on Saturday night and continue through all of next week. It still appears that most of the area will see anywhere from two to four inches of rain. Daytime highs next week will ease into the upper 80s. Overnight lows will settle into the upper 60s to lower 70s.
