Ill. (WTVO) — The “strawberry” moon, the last full moon of spring, will soon illuminate Illinois’ sky sometime during the second week of June.
The best opportunities to see the last full moon of spring would be on June 10 or June 11, depending on where a moon-gazer lives in Illinois.
The Farmer’s Almanac says the strawberry moon will be full at 2:44 a.m. on June 11.
This full moon is referred to as the strawberry moon because it marks the peak of strawberry harvest season. Algonquian, Ojibwe, Lakota and Dakota tribes are responsible for the attribution.
Viewing weather is expected to be around 67 degrees with little to no chance for precipitation on June 11, according to AccuWeather.
