Oluwaseyanu Akinola Afolabi, 26, was found guilty of the level 4 felony charge and misdemeanor marijuana possession on Thursday, according to Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner. The charges stem from an undercover child solicitation investigation by several local agencies.
Afolabi was arrested in April 2023 after reportedly messaging a girl he thought was 15 years old and soliciting her for sex acts. Police say Afolabi traveled from the Castleton area down to Johnson County to meet up with the “girl,” only to find police officers waiting for him.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Franklin Police Department and Edinburgh Police Department were all involved in the investigation. The case was then prosecuted by Deputy Prosecutor Bridget Foust and Bryan Smith.
“To others doing similar despicable things and seeking to prey on our kids, we will hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” Foust said.
Afolabi is now scheduled to be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. on July 8, 2025, by Judge Doug Cummins of Johnson County Superior Court 3.
