Former Cincinnati Bengals player accused of assaulting police officer after Covington bar ‘disturbance’

COVINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning and was accused of causing minor injuries to a police officer after being taken to jail.

In a news release from the Covington Police Department, officers said around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, they were dispatched to Second Story Bar in response to reports of a disturbance allegedly involving Jones, a customer, and an employee.

When officers arrived at the bar, they were reportedly directed to a car trying to leave the parking lot with Jones inside.

“During the course of the investigation, officers arrested Jones on charges related to his level of intoxication and his behavior,” Covington police wrote.

Jones was taken to the Kenton County Detention Center. While being lodged, he assaulted the arresting officer, causing a minor injury. He was charged with Alcohol Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, and Assault 3rd Degree

CPD officers wrote that Jones was taken to the Kenton County Detention Center, where he allegedly assaulted an officer and caused a minor injury.

“The Covington Police Department takes incidents of this nature very seriously,” officials with the department announced in a news release. “We are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all who live in or visit Covington. Adam Jones is being held to the same standard of conduct as any other individual in our community.”

Jones played for 13 seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2019, finishing out with the Bengals for his last three years.

He will be due in court at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

More information about the bar disturbance investigation will be released as it becomes available.
