The store on the 2100 block of Pine Street will be closed for good effective July 19, due to performance issues.
United released the following statement regarding their decision to close the store:
As part of our ongoing commitment to assessing United Supermarkets store operations and overall performance, we have made the difficult decision to close the United Supermarkets location at Ambler and Pine Street in Abilene, TX, effective July 19.
This decision does not reflect the dedication of our team or the community. We are committed to supporting our team members through this transition and continuing to serve our guests at nearby locations in Abilene and Clyde.
We appreciate our guests, partners, and team members and remain proud to be part of this thriving community.
Abilene will still have United Supermarket locations on S 14th Street, N Willis Street, and Judge Ely Boulevard.
It’s currently unknown what will happen with the building once United is closed.
