Corey Davis was located and arrested on Thursday by IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit. Davis was allegedly the driver behind the wheel during an attempted robbery-turned-deadly car crash that claimed the life of 62-year-old Charles Collins.
IMPD officers were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. on May 15 to the 8000 block of S. Madison Avenue to investigate a robbery. Upon arrival, officers found a man later identified as Collins bleeding from his head and stomach.
Investigators said that Collins appeared to have been hit by a car. IEMS crews took him to Eskanazi Hospital for treatment. Two days later, Collins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives began an investigation and, through gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, were able to identify Davis as a possible suspect. On Thursday, Davis was found and arrested.
Online court records show Davis has since been officially charged in Marion Superior Court 29 with felony murder and robbery. An initial hearing in his case is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday in front of Judge Charles F. Miller.
