What to expect during the upcoming Shreveport safety checkpoint

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A driver safety program is scheduled for next week, which local authorities say is aimed at enhancing road safety in the Shreveport community.

The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) will conduct a safety checkpoint, the effort is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. In a press release SPD reveals the goal is to identify and ensure compliance with Louisiana’s occupant protection laws, particularly regarding seatbelt use.

Checkpoint Details:

  • Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2025
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Location: Eastern region of Shreveport

The checkpoint will not be limited to seatbelt violations; officers may also enforce other traffic laws as necessary. The department hopes this operation reduces fatalities and serious injuries from crashes involving unrestrained motorists.
