However, one player, who has missed all off-season activities so far, was a main talking point, during the head coach’s press conference: tight end Foster Moreau.
The Jesuit alum has been recovering from a knee injury he suffered in the team’s regular-season finale at Tampa Bay, but Moreau’s inability to practice hasn’t stopped his involvement with the team.
“I have loved every interaction I’ve had with Foster since I’ve got here. He is everything we want in our program. He’s out there everyday. He’s in every meeting. He’s leading the group. He’s got a voice, and you hear it, during 7-on-7 periods: chewing and yelling at people left and right,” Moore said.
Moreau was on the field once again, throughout Thursday’s practice, and although the former LSU Tiger can’t do much, being absent from the field was not an option for the third-year Saint.
“It’s hard to lead, when you’re not able to do your main job. I think finding ways to have interpersonal communication with the new guys and make sure that everyone’s on the same page as we’re going out to practice: I think that’s critical,” Moreau said.
One main point the New Orleans native drove home was the privilege he felt playing for his hometown team, and having more Louisiana-based players in the Black and Gold could be an x-factor in Moreau’s eyes.
“That could be something that makes us special.”
