On June 4, around 6 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of Maple Street for reports of domestic abuse. The woman told authorities that Gutierrez hit her in the face twice and fled the scene in her car.
The suspect also damaged a door frame inside the residence, according to court records.
Officials attempted to pull Gutierrez over on Y Boulevard, but he fled onto North Second Street.
Police found the victim’s car after Gutierrez caused an accident, court documents show. The crash caused $300 in damages, officers reported.
After a struggle, the suspect was taken into custody and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
Gutierrez is charged with aggravated fleeing that caused property damage, domestic battery that caused physical contact, property damage and resisting arrest.
