(BCN) — A 36-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing a man who he found having an affair with his wife in Daly City last week, San Mateo County prosecutors said Wednesday.

Wilber Ortez Ramos is accused of the stabbing after he came home Friday to find his wife having an affair with the man, who Ortez Ramos allegedly found naked underneath a bed at his apartment, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Ortez Ramos allegedly demanded that the man get out from under the bed and when he did so, Ortez Ramos got a 12-inch knife and said he was going to kill him, prosecutors said.

He then allegedly pushed away his wife and attacked the man, who blocked the knife with his arm and suffered a deep slash wound that severed tendons and required stitches. The man was able to flee from the apartment and went to the parking garage of the nearby Broadmoor Police Department, where officers found him, according to the district attorney’s office.

Ortez Ramos made his initial appearance in court Tuesday but did not enter a plea to charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats and other offenses, prosecutors said.

The county’s Private Defender Program has been appointed to represent Ortez Ramos, who remains in custody on “no bail” status and is set to return to court on Friday for further arraignment.
