American Bank & Trust marks opening of 2 branches

American Bank & Trust has finished construction of two bank branches in the Sioux Falls area.

The new location in Tea opened about a month ago and replaced a site acquired through a merger with Valley Exchange Bank in 2023.

The 4,000-square-foot branch is at 801 E. Gateway Blvd. and staffed by six full-time employees.

“The Tea community seems to be very enthusiastic about our new location,” said Tom Shields, Sioux Falls regional president for American Bank & Trust.

“We have existing and new customers coming in daily to see the new branch,” Shields said. “We love giving branch tours and welcoming them in with coffee, water or soda. Fridays, we offer cookies for anyone that comes to the branch.”

The bank recently hired Kevin Nissen as its business development officer, following his retirement as planning and zoning administrator for the city of Tea.

A grand opening will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26 with a ribbon cutting, food trucks, raffles, building tours and grand opening specials. There will be extended hours that week, June 23-27, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Regular lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. The drive-thru is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

American Bank & Trust also is ready to go with its new branch on the west side of Sioux Falls.

The location at 26th Street and Ellis Road opened Monday. The 4,000-square-foot branch is led by Tamen Robb and has a team of four with room to grow.

“It’s no surprise that Sioux Falls is growing at super-charged speeds,” Shields said. “That western neighborhood has over 15,000 homes, and AB&T noticed that there are no convenient banking options for those residents. We hope to fulfill the need to partner with the neighborhood to grow and meet their wealth goals.”

It’s the fourth branch for American Bank & Trust within the Sioux Falls city limits and the sixth in the metro area.

There are 20 total locations across South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota.

The Ellis Road location will hold its grand opening from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 with a ribbon cutting, raffles, building tours and grand-opening specials.
