Romero recorded the best score by an amateur golfer in U.S. Women’s Open history, shooting 5-under (67) with six birdies and only one bogey. This comes after she made UO history this year by becoming the first two-time first-team all-American as a sophomore.
Through the first two rounds, she was able to make the cut, shooting 1-over par.
She completed the event in a tie for 45th overall and the fourth-best amateur in the field.
The San Jose, Calif. native had an outstanding sophomore campaign taking home the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Year title and first-team All-American honors. She helped the Ducks to the Big Ten Championship and a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships semifinals.
