NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Fire fighters with the New Orleans Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire in the Carrolton neighborhood of New Orleans on Tuesday, June 3.

According to the NOFD, the fire, which happened at a vacant property at 7922 Colapissa St., was initially reported at 1:46 p.m., with crews on scene by 1:52 p.m. and a second alarm called at 1:54 p.m.

Responders say that, on arrival, they found a heavy fire at the structure, which threatened other nearby residential and vacant structures. The second alarm was reportedly struck due to the rapid spread of the fire and the potential for the structure to collapse.

None of the other buildings took major damage as a result of the blaze and no injuries were reported. The fire was brought under control by 3:27 p.m. with the help of 17 NOFD units supported by 43 personnel. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
