Downed power line sparks electrical fire at Belvidere home

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — A power line, downed in Tuesday’s storms, started an electrical fire at a Belvidere home.

According to the Belvidere Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 700 block of John Street around 1:17 p.m. for a report of wires sparking and causing a fire.

Authorities said a downed power line extending from a utility pole to the home caused electrical arcing, which started the fire.
