The DHS accused Dauphin County, Adams County, the Borough of Gettysburg, and the City of York of being “sanctuary jurisdictions defying federal immigration law” on Thursday, May 29.
The Borough of Gettysburg responded to the website, saying it fully complies with the law, and a provision in the county’s police manual requires its compliance. On Friday, May 30, the DHS’s list disappeared.
Gettysburg leaders are aware that the list is down, but didn’t have any immediate reaction to that. Leaders for the other three jurisdictions all either couldn’t be reached for comment or declined to comment.
