Roof of Hinds County Courthouse repaired, other work still underway

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County officials have an update on repairs to the Hinds County Courthouse.

According to officials, the roof on the building has been repaired, eliminating the water leaks and mold caused by moisture.

“We have a long ways to go. It’s a historical court site, and we’re planning on preserving it, of course. Everything that we do at that courtroom, it has to be approved by the state, Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and it may take a little bit longer than it normally would. But I think once we finish, it’s worth the wait,” said Supervisor Robert Graham, District 1.

The supervisors’ priority is to create a safe environment for employees and citizens. As of June 2025, court business is being conducted at other locations until other repairs have been completed.

“We are getting the things that was supposed to have been done in the past, and we would just like we are asking people to be patient with us. We’re getting the work done, and we’re going to make sure that the court better be done on the inside, as well as the outside,” said Supervisor Wanda Evers, District 4.

Supervisors hope the repairs will be completed by Summer 2026.
