Heavy smoke was seen coming from the fire, which started in an industrial area near Interstate-880 shortly before 5 p.m. Monday. The fire is affecting neighboring commercial buildings, the Oakland Fire Department said.
Oakland firefighters are also responding to a one-alarm vegetation fire near 36th Avenue and Leandro Street.
“[The] fire appears to have started near the railroad tracks and is burning into the backyards of houses,” OFD said.
