No active shooter incidents reported in Alabama in 2024: FBI

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation released the active shooter incident numbers for 2024 on Tuesday, and Alabama did not make the list.

According to the FBI’s report, there were 24 total incidents in 2024, killing 23 and injuring 83. One of those incidents occurred in Florida, which led to two casualties, according to the report.

The Florida incident occurred in Bonify along I-10. According to the report, on April 8, 2024, a 22-year-old woman started shooting at people driving along the interstate. The woman was eventually arrested by law enforcement at a different location, according to officials.

As for other states, Texas had four active shooter incidents, while California and North Carolina had two each.

Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming each had one.
