New Jersey law criminalizes public brawls

(WPHL) — New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill into law that aims to prevent public brawls.

Governor Murphy announced on Monday the new law would make inciting large-scale fights in public a criminal offense. The law says that the crime is punishable by up to 18 months imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000 dollars.

The legislation comes after several incidents of public brawls in different parts of New Jersey, most recently happening in Seaside Heights during Memorial Day Weekend.
