Bruno Lowe, 37, of New Iberia, was indicted by a grand jury in the 16th Judicial District Court on June 30 on a charge of first degree murder in the death of 2-year-old Nash John Doucet. The child died in July of 2023.
Lowe was arrested on a grand jury warrant, according to District Attorney Michael Haik III. His bond was set at $10 million.
An indictment is not a conviction, but a determination by a grand jury that sufficient evidence exists for the accused to stand trial on the charges. No trial date was announced.
