Police investigating body found in Susquehanna River

MONTOUR COUNTY, Pa. (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities are investigating after a woman’s body was pulled from the Susquehanna River on Sunday morning, and they’re asking for help in identifying her.

Detective Jason Bedisky from the Mahoning Twp. Police Department in Montour County, near Danville, said they were notified just before 11:00 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Access and Boat Ramp for a report of body in the water.

Bedisky says that Continental Fire Company, of Danville, was first on the scene, as they were performing water rescue training nearby, and had the body pulled out of the water within minutes.

According to the release, the body was found in the area of the boat launch on River Drive.

Officials have not identified the woman yet, but say she is 5’4″, between 150 and 170 pounds, and with multiple tattoos on her arms and legs.

It is unknown how long the woman’s body was in the water for.

An autopsy has not been scheduled yet according to Detective Bedisky.
