SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – An argument among young neighbors turned into a tragedy after police say a shootout broke out and took the life of a 15-year-old boy.
The Shreveport Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred last week on May 27, 2025, in the 3100 block of Parkhurst Drive.
In the evening of May 27, Shreveport police responded to reports of a teenage boy being hit by gunfire. Despite efforts to save his life, the boy did not survive and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit initiated an investigation and found that a dispute between neighbors escalated and resulted in multiple individuals firing off guns.
These findings resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old boy who police say was responsible for the fatal shooting.
The suspect was taken into custody by the Violent Crimes Unit and booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center on May 30, 2025, on one count of manslaughter.
“This is a deeply tragic incident that has left a profound impact on our community,” says Police Chief Wayne Smith.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Shreveport Police Department.
