The festival will cover the French Market, Dutch Alley and Latrobe Park. It will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
The festival will kick off with the “Ripe and Ready Second Line” Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The We Are 1 Brass Band and the New Orleans Baby Dolls will dance down the Colonnade Shops, through Dutch Alley and the Farmer’s and Flea Markets. It will end with an opening celebration at the Rouses French Market Stage.
Various local food vendors will offer Creole tomato dishes and specialty drinks. Some examples include a fried Creole tomato BLT from the Ruby Slipper, a Creole Tomato stuffed with creamy shrimp from LaDelyo’s and a Majik Bloody Mary from Riley’s Foods.
The festival will feature local music, including Charmaine Neville, the Fully Dressed Poboy’s, the NPS Arrowhead Jazz Band and Jenavieve and the Winding Boys.
There will also be a free dance lesson tent involving Zydeco and line dancing songs. There will be various free activities for kids, including bracelet making, umbrella decorating with the Baby Dolls, glitter art, balloon creations and live alligator petting.
