IMPD investigating shooting on south side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating a shooting that unfolded on the south side of Indianapolis Saturday evening.

According to a public police report, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1200 block of East Troy Avenue around 5:49 p.m. on a report of a person shot. IMPD’s report on the incident indicates two victims were involved in the shooting — one male and one female.

Police’s report does not specify if both victims were actually shot during the incident. The initial media notification IMPD sent about the shooting indicates officers only located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds at the scene.

IMPD confirmed that its officers arrested 22-year-old Chris Perry for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Perry now faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Armed robbery — Level 3 Felony
  • Burglary with a deadly weapon — Level 2 Felony
  • Kidnapping with a deadly weapon — Level 3 Felony
