According to event organizers, McLean, famous for his song “American Pie,” will kick off the day-long festival. McLean is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts selected “American Pie” as one of the top five songs of the century, ranking it as fifth.
McLean will be followed by the country band Shenandoah. Their song, “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart,” won a Grammy.
The Marine Forces Reserve Band will be performing, along with Bottomland, Payton Smith and the World War II Museum’s Victory Belles. There will also be a fireworks show.
The concert is free. Gates open 3 p.m. on July 3.
