Harper Steele named Celebrity Grand Marshal for 2025 SF Pride

(KRON) – Harper Steele was named the Celebrity Grand Marshall of SF Pride, the San Francisco Pride organization announced today. The Emmy-winning comedy writer and producer will lead the 2025 SF Pride with a message of “visibility, joy and resistance,” stated the organization on Friday.

Steele spent 13 years on Saturday Night Live, where she was a head writer. Following that, she served as a creative director of Funny or Die, co-writing several pieces including Casa de Mi Padre, A Deadly Adoption and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Her most recent project was a Netflix documentary, Will & Harper, featuring Will Ferrell. The film follows their road trip across America and their friendship following Harper’s gender transition in 2022.

The theme of this year’s SF Pride is “Queer Joy is Resistance.” Steele’s participation in the 2025 SF Pride festival emphasizes the message of joy and community, emphasizing the shared humanity SF Pride stands for.

“San Francisco Pride is honored to welcome Harper Steele as this year’s Celebrity Grand Marshal,” said San Francisco Pride executive director Suzanne Ford. “Harper’s story is one of authenticity, imagination, and connection — all values that resonate most deeply with our community. Her visibility and vulnerability are a powerful reminder that queer people can and must be celebrated in every context, including in media and entertainment.”
