Former Warrior Klay Thompson’s dog Rocco passes away

(KRON) –  The father of former Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, Mychal Thompson, has disclosed that Klay’s dog Rocco has passed away.

Despite Klay not making an official announcement, retired NBA player Mychal informed radio show ESPN LA on Thursday of Rocco’s passing.

Before going to dog heaven, the English bulldog was beloved by more than 60,000 Instagram followers.

Rocco was such a champion for Klay, a figure maker included the pooch in his bobblehead.

Klay posted on Instagram Friday afternoon, mourning his beloved dog.

“I’m gonna miss Rocco a lot, 13 glorious years with my boy,” Thompson wrote on social media. “I know he’s in doggy heaven poppin somebody’s ball. A great dynasty dog he was. Thank you for all the sweet messages ! All dogs go to Heaven!”

In 2020, Klay participated in GQ Sports’ segment where athletes list ten items that are essential to them. “My number one essential would have to be this guy, Sir Rocco Von Thompson. I got him in my rookie year, and he’s been with me ever since,” said Klay. “…Love him unconditionally.”

Klay joked that Rocco was a “pest at times, but he’s like the firstborn.”

In this interview, Klay also mentioned how he and Rocco love taking walks in Bay Area parks, especially the Oakland Hills, Marin County and San Francisco’s Presidio Park.
