Hosted by the Heritage Archery Club and Bowhunters Association of Alabama, in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA), the event drew 111 competitors of all ages from Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Archers competed in a variety of classes including Fixed Pins, Open Class, Traditional and Youth categories, with individual and team honors awarded.
“Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer receives yearly support from our partners and archers alike,” said Beth Davis, president & CEO of the BCRFA. “Knowing that 1 in 8 women and 1 in 726 men are estimated to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, it’s events like these that continue to fund research that can improve outcomes and enhance the quality of life for those affected by breast cancer. Yearly events like Bow-Up are essential to our mission.”
Since its inception in 2012, the tournament has raised nearly $250,000 for breast cancer research initiatives in Alabama. All funds raised during the Bow-Up tournament stay in Alabama and are used to fund early-stage breast cancer projects with the potential to lead to life-saving discoveries.
