Person detained for questioning after vacant home fire in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A person was detained after being seen near a vacant home that caught fire in Fresno on Thursday, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Crews say they responded to the 500 block of E. Andrews Ave. after receiving reports of a structure fire.

Responding firefighters arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of a vacant residence. Firefighters say they were able to bring the flames under control within 15 minutes; however, they report some witnesses identified a person who had been reportedly seen near the home before the incident.

Fire crews say the person was temporarily detained for questioning, but fire investigators are continuing to work to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported during this incident.
