Jury finds Alize Smith guilty of 2021 Belvidere triple murder

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Alize Smith, 28, has been found guilty of first-degree murder for killing Andrew Hintt and his two sons, Benjamin, 7, and Sebastian, 5, in their Belvidere home in 2021.

Their bodies were found on Dec. 19, 2021, inside their Union Avenue Home. Hintt was found in the living room, and the two boys in the master bedroom, all three shot in the head.

According to prosecutors, Smith and Hintt were involved in selling marijuana, and Smith owed the other $10,000 at the time Hintt and his boys were killed.

Smith was seen exiting their home that same day, just after noon, taking the Ring doorbell off the door.

Prosecutors said that a person was seen driving Hintt’s stolen truck on the Chicago tollway. The next day, Smith went to meet a friend in Michigan, who later turned him in and called the police. He was arrested on December 21, 2021.
