Deep dishing the day. Serving Sloppy Joes with five-star fine-dining style.
WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood takes you back.
Back to today, actually and to Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies in Metairie.
That’s where Stephanie Dinvaut is commander in chief.
She is the cafeteria manager and has been in the school lunch business for two decades.
“I love working in the food service because you get to meet new kids every year. You get to see them grow,” said Dinvaut.
Now all of that love earned her a nomination for Life Changer of the Year from National Life Group.
It’s a national contest for folks who work in America’s schools.
It could be a teacher, a bus driver, a custodian.
Here at Haynes Academy, it’s the lunchroom lady.
“I think that it is a pretty big title but I think that it’s one that Ms. Stephanie has definitely lived up to. Making sure that everyone feels comfortable in our cafeteria,” said one student.
She finds out in June if she’s a national winner.
Among the folks she feeds, she’s already number one.
“It’s amazing to know that someone is thinking of you outside of the cafeteria,” said Dinvaut.
