NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The grand opening of an exhilarating virtual reality venue, a run/walk along the levee in Jefferson, and a festival devoted to Louisiana’s Cajun and zydeco music are on the books for this last weekend of May! Here are Where Y’at’s picks:
- First, for video game lovers: On Friday, May 30, a ribbon-cutting will be held at Zero Latency in the CBD. You won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind gameplay experience: immerse yourself in the world’s best virtual reality and encounter untethered, free-roam fun with no cables.
- Next, enjoy Louisiana seafood, swamp tours, kayaking, and more: all in one place. The Jean Lafitte Seafood Fest
is the place for the full Louisiana experience in one weekend, May 30 – June 1, featuring music by Waylon Thibodaux and others, delicious local seafood, and more.
- Friday evening, May 30, get in some exercise along the levee at the Rivershack Tavern’s River Run/Walk. Stay for the after-party featuring great food, cold drinks, and live music from Tank & Bill. For those over-21, there’s even a Beer Mile where participants must drink a beer every quarter mile.
- Finally, celebrate the rich sounds of Southwestern Louisiana at the free Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Fest, May 31 – June 1,at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center. Enjoy the sounds of Dwayne Dopsi, Buckwheat Zydeco Jr., and others. There’ll also be great food and drinks available for purchase.
